Peak Pose Sequencing for Vinyasa Classes

“If you go step by step, there will be no problems. Enjoy each step. Trying to leap many steps at once can be a problem.”
~T.K.V. Desikachar, quoting his father Krishnamacharya
How often have you been in a class where a teacher uses this phrase to offer up a more complex pose?
Or, have you said it yourself while teaching a class?
How does this phrase help new students to learn a new pose or variation?
How does this help your students grow their practice?
We are 'teachers', so let's actually teach!
In this continuing education course you will explore how to create a yoga class sequence designed around a 'peak' pose.
And more importantly, you will learn how to actually 'teach' the pose so that all students, no matter their level of experience,
feel included and are given options.
This small but important detail is often missing from an all levels class.
There are two main objectives in this course:
1. How to integrate the more complex poses directly into a power vinyasa arc-style class - without breaking the flow of the class.
2. How to teach more complex poses using the 'simple to complex' cueing method.
This course goes beyond learning how to design a single class around peak pose - it gives you the tools to develop class plans that build on each other to support overall growth and development for all of your students.
You will learn the steps to breaking down the anatomical actions of a pose and gain the ability to determine poses with similar patterns that will help prepare the body for more complex poses.
Intelligent sequencing, clear step-by-step instructions with alternatives, combined basic foundation building can help prep your student’s bodies and give them the tools to grow their practice.
This course includes:
-how to sequence for, and teach, a more complex pose without straying from the power vinyasa sequencing formula
-the 5 step 'formula' for breaking down and pose
and creating a class plan
-how to break down a complex pose
-6 mini audio tutorials
-sample pose breakdowns and sequences
-two prerecorded live class class videos
-the power yoga arc-style sequencing formula and how to integrate a complex pose within those guidelines
-refining cues and transitions

As power yoga has become more popular, many misconceptions have developed as to what it is and means. I teach traditional power yoga, in the way I believe was originally intended:
to gain a stronger, more flexible body as you develop a stronger, more flexible mind.
I have been teaching power yoga classes since 1997, and leading teacher trainings since 2008.
My trainings and online continuing education courses have developed from almost 30 years of teaching and practicing experience. Thank you for taking the time to check them out. Feel free to email me with any questions: lyn@lynkehoepoweryoga.com.
